This four days Luang Namtha ( Vieng Phoukha ) forest tribe trek will provide you with an opportunity to experience South Lao tribal culture and lifestyle. You will spend three nights with minority groups in their villages doing a homestay with a local family. This Lao jungle trek is a moderate trek in the secondary forest and primary forest inside the Namha National Protected Area where you will enjoy big old trees, and many varieties of plants and you will have a chance to see some wildlife. You will also see stunning mountain views, swim in the tranquil Namha river, and enjoy local foods.

DAY 1: LUANG NAMTHA – VIENG PHOUKHA (L,D)

Arrive at Luang Namtha on a flight or pick up at your hotel. Upon arrival, our team will pick up and transfer to a local restaurant for lunch. After lunch, we’re transferred to Vieng Phoukha ( take 1 hour ). Take a small boat trip for 2 hours to visit a couple of villages. Overnight in Vieng Phoukha.

DAY 2: VIENG PHOUKHA – BAN NAM O – TREKKING (B,L,D)

After breakfast, we start trekking to Ban Nam O. The first day’s trek leads you across the flat rice field of the Nong Kham people and then up to the mountain through the young forest. Here you will be able to see a great view of Vieng Phoukha, where you started. Then you will walk down and through the primary forest and see many types of NTPs (Non Timber Forest Products). After lunch, you will head for a nearby mountain. The way will take about three hours; along the way, you will be shown many animal trails through the forest. At the top of the mountain is the Akha tribal, where you will overnight.

DAY 3: BAN NAM O – BAN THONGLATH – TREKKING (B, L, D)

After waking and enjoying the traditional Akha breakfast, we start walking to the Khmu Village pass the old forest. You will encounter several massive old trees, many types of bamboo, and a good thick forest. If you are stealthy you may see some wild animals such as monkeys, wild goats, wild pigs, etc. Later, you will have a traditional lunch with the guides and then continue to Khmu village where you will overnight.

DAY 4: BAN THONGLATH – VIENG PHOUKHA – LUANG NAMTHA (B,L)

Before breakfast, we take a walk around the village to see the Khmu people preparing to work in the fields. In the morning there is sometimes a sea of fog hanging over the landscape, amongst which the villagers will be feeding their animals.

Around 8 am, you will have a good two-hour hike down the mountain to the picking up point. On the way, you will encounter the Prasat Cave and then you will continue the trek until you arrive at a place where a van is waiting and transfer you back to Vieng Phoukha. Enjoy a light lunch before being transferred to Luang Namtha for your flight departure. End The Tour.
