17 Laos-Cambodia Motorbike Tour from Luang Prabang to Siem Reap

Day 2 : Luang Prabang Half Day City ( B , L )

Alms Giving Ceremony Sai Bat (Morning Alms) is a longstanding tradition in Laos Buddhist culture. In observing it, the devoted offer food to monks throughout the Luang Prabang every morning. This tradition is very unique in Laos, being the only Buddhist nation still preserving the procession. Pickup from your accommodation at early morning around 05:15 am in March to October and 05:45 in November to February. We participate in the alms with local expert guide and experience offering foods to monks.

Old Quarter Luang Prabang After morning alms, we visit Luang Prabang morning market. The market lining a couple of quiet streets near the Royal Palace, starts early and is over by mid-morning. It sets up along a couple of side-streets next to one of the city’s many Wats. A butcher and some of the more touristy stalls have actual tables for their wares. But most of the vendors, selling anything from rice, to fresh vegetables, to steamed fish, frogs, and anything else that might be the day’s catch, just set up on the ground. We go back to your accommodation and have a free time for breakfast until 8:30 am.

Royal Palace Museum The Royal Palace, which is today the national museum and built by French colonialists between 1904-09, displays a lovely collection of the artefacts reflecting the richness of Lao culture.

Wat Mai Suwannaphumaham built in 1788, known for its glorious bas-relief work, golden stencilling of its sim (assembly hall), and for the ritual cleansing of the Phra Bang during Lao New Year.

Wat Sene The temple was built in 1718 by King Kitsarath with 100,000 stones from the Mekong river. It literally means “Temple of 100,000 treasures”

Wat Xiengthong , once known as “The Temple of the Golden City”, holds great cultural, historic and architectural importance. It is serenely situated near the tip of the peninsula at the confluence of the Mekong and Nam Khan Rivers, with a grand staircase leading up from the Mekong. For centuries it was considered the ceremonial gateway to the town, with visiting dignitaries and soon-to-be-crowned kings arriving via these steps.

Wat Wisunarat The oldest Buddhist temple dating to the 16th century, known for its large, watermelon-domed stupa.

Mount Phousi is a 100 m high hill in the centre of the old town, located on the peninsula between the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers. As the highest point in town, it boasts the town’s famous and favourite panoramic view. On the summit, the shiny golden stupa of Wat Chom Si sits firmly and greets visitors to the mountain. It was built in 1804 during the reign of King Anourouth and has become a symbol of Luang Prabang’s spiritual significance.

Day 3 : Luang Prabang Motorbike To Kuang Si Waterfalls ( B , L )

9.30am: Start by crossing the Mekong River for a perfect motorbike loop in mountains views with remote villages

11.00am: Go south of Luang Prabang and explore remote villages by an easy Off-road circuit

13.00pm: Lunch in a small town or Khamu village

14.00pm: Dirtbike riding for 2 to 3 hours following the Mekong River close by

16/17.00pm: Visit Kuang Si waterfalls and bathing in the fresh water stream and riding back to Luang Prabang .

Day 4 : Luang Prabang Motorbike To Vieng Thoong ( 225 km ) ( B , L )

Leaving Luang Prabang bright and early, we will head to Pakseng and then hit beautiful trails and single-track off-road sections. We will follow the rivers north and on arrival, we can go bathe in the hot springs at Viengthong.

Day 5 : Vieng Thong to Phnomsavan ( 165km ) ( B, L )

Today will be a shorter day that will be mostly off-road. We will visit Lima Site 36 on the way down to Phonsavan. Here the old airfield lies abandoned with many reminders of the War. Afterwards, we will head back on the road into the jungle trails to Phonsavan and onto the Plain of Jars, we will spend the night.

Day 6: Phnonsavan – Khammoune ( 325km ) ( B , L )

After leaving Phonsavan, we will take some long trails through the countryside before heading up through the karst limestone mountains of Khammouane Province. Today is a long day with many kilometres to cover. Some of the routes will be Tarmac and provide a chance to enjoy the spectacular mountains en route to our destination. We will spend the night in the Sainamhai resort along the banks of the Nam Hi River.

Day 7 : Khammoune – Ban Langkham ( 225km ) ( B  , L )

After a short ride east along tarmac roads in the morning, we will go south over the Nakhai Plateau which has unbelievably stunning views. We will then ride along a short route before finally getting on The Ho Chi Minh Trail up to the Mua Gai Pass. Here we can explore the start of these famous war-era trails.

Day 8 : Ban Langkham – Xepon Via Ban Laboy ( 215 km ) ( B , L )

Today includes an exploration of the Ho Chi Minh Trail, river crossings and a lot of history. It will primarily be dirt roads all the way to Ban Laboy Ford, which is considered to be the most heavily bombed place on the planet. We will ride through some strategic villages that were used during the war and see some bomb craters and original cobblestone paths that will transport you back in time.

Day 9 : Xepon – Saravane ( 245km ) ( B , L )

The day will start with a visit to the War Museum in Ban Dong before we take the bikes back down the trail into Saravane via Ta Oy. This day will be a fascinating ride with some spectacular river crossings and some routes through the jungle before we arrive in Saravane.

Day 10 : Saravane – Pakse ( 115km ) ( B, L )

Today will be a very easy day in the saddle. The easy route will give us a bit of time to rest and a chance to clean up our gear and get some washing done. We can spend an afternoon with the locals, where you can be certain that there will be plenty of beer and some afternoon sunshine.

Day 11 : Pakse – Cross Border to Kratie via Dong Krolor Border ( Cambodia ) ( B, L )

This is our final day in Laos ! We will ride the route 13 towards the checkpoint, with plenty of rivers and forests to make it a great ride. On arrival to checkpoint, Our day will finish here and enjoy your trip to Cambodia.Upon arrival at Dong Krolor border, welcome by our guide and continue to Kratie.,En route, we stop to visit the rare Mekong Freshwater dolphin at Kampi.,Check-in and free at leisure to explore the colonial town of Kratie. Day 12 : Kratie – Kampong Cham ( 165km ) ( B , L )

Dirt Bike Riding,Distance: 160 KM,Level: Medium,Road: flat gravel, tarmac .Begin our journey by riding along the Mekong river through peaceful riverside villages before stopping in Chhlong, a French colonial town with some amazing French architecture still remain.,Upon arrival in Kampong Cham, check-in and visit Koh Pen via Cambodia’s longest bamboo bridge made almost entirely of bamboo and light wood materials. Overnight in Kampong Cham.

Day 13 : Kampong Cham – Phnom Penh (155 km ) ( B , L )

Dirt Bike Riding,Distance: 150 KM,Level: Medium,Road: flat gravel, tarmac. Depart for the capital Phnom Penh via road number 7, where we stop en route at Wat Nokor and Phnom Pros to learn more about ancient and modern Buddhism in this part of the country. Upon arrival in Phnom Penh, check-in to hotel then visits Royal Palace, where it serves as home to His Majesty the King Norodom Sihamony. Day 14 : Phnom Penh – Kampong Thom ( 225km ) ( B , L )

Day 15 : Kampong Tom – Siem Reap ( 200km ) ( B , L )

Dirt Bike Riding,Distance: 200KM,Level: Medium,Road: flat gravel, tarmac . This morning, we depart Kampong Thom to visit the largest complex of the pre-Angkorian temple, Sambo Preikuh.,We continue further toward Siem Reap, we will arrive in the early afternoon to enjoy the hotel facilities and freshen up before touring the temple of Angkor the next day. Day 16 : Siem Reap – Angkor Wat – Ta Prohm – Angkor Thom ( B , L, D )

Rise early this morning to visit the masterpiece of Khmer architecture Angkor Wat during sunrise. With extraordinary carving on its bas-reliefs, This mother-of-temples not only known as Khmer pride and symbol but also known to the world as World’s Largest Religious Monument. UNESCO has listed Angkor Wat as World’s Heritage in 1992. Back to the hotel and rest during midday. Angkor Wat at sunrise,,Visit the picturesque Ta Prohm, which was slowly swallowed by the jungle. The tentacle-like root of giant trees growing over the temple, man first conquered jungle to build but nature later reclaimed its territory back. It is the movement that is not measured by days but by centuries. Continue to explore the mysterious Royal city of Angkor Thom.,The 54-tower temple of Bayon is an awesome sight with hundreds of smiling faces. Then visit to the surroundings of the complex including the Baphuon, Elephant Terraces, Leper King Terrace and Royal Palace.

Day 17 : Siem Reap – Departure ( B )
