Keng Tung or Kyaing Tong as some call it is the perfect hub for treks and hikes to regions hill tribe villages. For the time being the only accommodations are in town so you will enjoy daily outings to different ethnic minorities villages. The treks and hikes duration and distance are adapted to guests fitness level and desired challenge.

Day 1ARRIVAL AND EXPLORE KYAING TONG

Arrival in Kyaing Tong and transfer to your hotel. This afternoon wonder around the downtown and lake and get a feel of this eastern Shan town. Pass by the Saobwa Shan chieftains house and visit the old Wat Pha Jao Lung temple and the Khun Shan monastery of Wat Zom Kham which are considered the most beautiful in town.

Day 2KYIANG TONG TREKKING

Start this day with morning visit to the bustling Kyaing Tong main market where colorful minority people come for trading. Continue with approx. 1 ½ hours drive to Loi Mwe, a town situated on a mountain plateau. On the way we stop at Wa village of Naung Cho known as the birth place of one of the earliest ethnic tribes of Shan country. In Loi Moi visit the Old Catholic church built by the Italian mission early in the 19th century and see some of the colonial houses built as summer residences during the British colonial era. Then drive to Ho Latt, Akha village. Continue on foot to the villages of the surrounding region and visit the unique Akha and Pang Wai Lahu ethnic minorities at a comfortable pace. Walking time can be adjusted to your strength and be between 2 to 6 hours, this number also depending on villages visited. In the afternoon, drive back to Kyaing Tong.

Day 3EXCURSION & TREKKING IN WAN NYET
Kyaing Tong Hill Tribes Trek
After breakfast embark on drive to Wan Nyet village for about one and half hours north of Keng Tong. Trekking to villages in Wan Nyet surroundings, visit old Shan monastery, bamboo forest and scenic landscape. Return back to Kyiang Tong town late afternoon.

Day 4KYAING TONG DEPARTURE

Morning time to visit noodle makers shop and lone tree hill before transfer to airport to connect to your onward departure flight or transfer to the border.
